The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony, organized by the Village of Wauwatosa Business Improvement District, is scheduled for Friday, November 30 at 6pm. Kick off your holiday season by grabbing a bite to eat at one of the many local eateries in the Village, and then head to Root Common Park where Harwood meets Wauwatosa Avenue for the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
Highlights of the Tree Lighting Ceremony include Santa’s arrival on a fire engine, complimentary cookies and coffee, cocoa or cider from Cafe Hollander and Firefly Bar and Grill, and performances by the McKinley School Choir and Sophias’s Heart Foundation Choir.
Stick around after the ceremony for a lighted horse-drawn wagon ride through the Village and kids crafts at B Green (7505 Harwood) from 6:30-9:00PM, and enjoy a little one-on-one time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus at Paulina Esthetics Boutique (7601 Harwood) after the ceremony. Arte Wine and Painting Studio (7511 Harwood) is also hosting a fundraiser for the Hunger Task Force on Friday evening; artwork will be for sale, smaller canvases will be available to paint for the holidays, and live music.
Baskin Robbins (1417 N Wauwatosa) is offering hot cocoa and cookies in the store, along with an ornament craft and face painting for kids and a raffle every half hour from 5-10pm. Everything is complimentary, but Baskin Robbins will be collecting donations for Children’s Hospital Foundation. Yo Mama (1349 N Wauwatosa) is offering free Christmas cookie decorating for kids from 5-10pm as well.
Shops will be open late on Friday night to accommodate your holiday shopping needs. If you run out of time on Friday night, stop back on Saturday, December 1st. The horse-drawn wagon will be around from 2:30-6:00 pm, B Green will be hosting kids crafts again, Arte Wine and Painting Studio will have paintings for sale and smaller holiday projects available to raise money for Hunger Task Force. Enjoy the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble in Root Common, and receive a free cd (while supplies last). With the incredible variety of unique shops in the Village, you’ll be sure to find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. The weekend’s festivities are sponsored by WaterStone Bank and PNC Bank.
